The Montessori teacher is always working to prepare the environment and to prepare herself.  

Rather than impose our wishes on the child, we follow the child. That is, observe closely the needs of each child as an individual and adapt our approach and curriculum to meet their specific needs. 

The teacher discerns the sensitive period of the child and provides specially designed materials that allow the child to learn by experience.
